A hug for Culiacan
Starting in 2024, Culiacán has gone through one of the most difficult stages in its recent history. The violent confrontation between criminal groups and security authorities has resulted in a painful toll: nearly 1,900 citizens and almost 100 police officers have lost their lives. Consequently, approximately 4,000 children have been orphaned, about 400 of whom are between 6 and 14 years old.
Faced with this reality, the Rotary Club of Culiacán has launched the “Culiacán embraces you”. A humanitarian scholarship program, aimed at supporting the most vulnerable children and preventing them from becoming marginalized from society.

What does the Scholarship consist of?
Each beneficiary child will receive an economic scholarship of 1,200 USD annually (100 USD monthly). But beyond the financial support, each scholarship will be accompanied by a local Rotary member, who will serve as a tutor and will be responsible for visiting the child monthly, monitoring their development, and completing a performance form that will be registered on the program's digital platform.
The platform will be the link between international sponsors and the scholarship recipients, allowing any Rotary member in the world to sponsor a child with 1,200 dollars annually and receive evidence of the impact of their support. Furthermore, the Rotary Foundation International will be invited to act as an external auditor to guarantee the transparency and effectiveness of the program.
"Culiacán te abraza" (Culiacán embraces you) seeks to start by supporting 50 orphaned children, thus planting the first seeds of hope so that these children can reintegrate into society, develop in a dignified environment, and build a future with peace.
